How times have changed

La Grace is a replica of a historical tall ship from the second half of the 18th century.

Built in Egypt it was launched in December 2010 with the intention of sailing the Seven Seas as the original ship did 300 years ago.

She is the first Czech and Slovak training ship which is a great achievement for the countries which have no coastline!

Fancy a week crewing aboard?  That’ll be about 400 euros.

And next door but one to La Grace we have a Solarwave 62, yours for a cool £1.5 to £2 million, it’s the first zero emission luxury yacht, using solar panels to support all its systems meaning unlimited use without refuelling.  From what I can see it is luxurious, the only drawback is having to ensure you keep all the appliances off when you’re not using them, the blurb says you have to change the way you live.  It brought back memories of my dad going around the house turning all the lights off after us, with words about planes thinking they can land with all these lights on ringing in our ears!

And yes in the background, the joint 12th largest cruise ship, Freedom of the Seas, which we watched this morning being put into its slot without the aid of tugs.  It turned on a sixpence, albeit a very large sixpence.

Laters xx
